**Short answer:** You can have a live WordPress blog on Hostinger in about 30 minutes: buy a plan, claim the free domain, run the WordPress setup wizard (the install itself takes about two minutes), then pick a theme and publish. The Premium plan is enough for one to three blogs. The only slow part is waiting for the domain and SSL to go live, which Hostinger says can take a few hours.
This guide walks through each step in order, with what to click and what to skip. Prices and menu names are as listed at the time of writing (October 2026); both change often.
## Before you start: what you need
- **About 30 minutes** and a payment card or another payment method Hostinger accepts in your country.
- **A blog name** with two or three domain options in case your first choice is taken.
- **A [password manager](/blog/ai-security-crisis-how-hackers-breached-openai-and-what-you-can-do)** to store your hosting, domain and WordPress logins. If you do not use one yet, see our guide to the [best free and open-source password managers](/blog/stop-paying-for-password-managers-the-best-free-and-open-source-picks-for-2026).
## Which Hostinger plan to pick for a blog
For a new blog, Premium is the sensible starting point. Hostinger's [WordPress hosting page](https://www.hostinger.com/wordpress-hosting) lists these plans, all priced on a 48-month prepaid term:
| Plan | Intro price (US) | Renews at (US) | Intro price (India) | Renews at (India) | Websites | Storage | Backups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $2.99/mo | $10.99/mo | ₹149/mo | ₹449/mo | 3 | 20 GB SSD | Weekly |
| Unlimited | $3.99/mo | $16.99/mo | ₹249/mo | ₹649/mo | Unlimited | 50 GB NVMe | Daily |
| Cloud Startup | $7.99/mo | $25.99/mo | ₹599/mo | ₹1,599/mo | Unlimited | 100 GB NVMe | Daily and on demand |
Indian prices are from [Hostinger's India storefront](https://www.hostinger.com/in/web-hosting).
**Two honest notes:**
1. **The low price needs a four-year prepayment**, and renewal is roughly three to four times higher. Read our [full Hostinger review](/blog/hostinger-review-2026) for the real long-term cost.
2. **Unlimited is worth the extra dollar if you care about backups.** Daily backups beat weekly ones when you are new and likely to break something. [Compare Premium and Unlimited on Hostinger's current offer page](https://www.hostg.xyz/aff_c?offer_id=815&aff_id=244529) before you choose.
## Step-by-step: your WordPress blog in 30 minutes
### Step 1: Buy the plan (5 minutes)
1. Go to Hostinger and choose your plan and term. You can [see Hostinger's current Premium plan price here](https://www.hostg.xyz/aff_c?offer_id=815&aff_id=244529).
2. Create an account and pay.
3. **Check the cart before paying.** Remove extras you did not ask for. A free domain is included for the first year on Premium and above, so you do not need to buy one separately.
### Step 2: Start the setup wizard (2 minutes)
New customers land in Hostinger's onboarding wizard automatically. If you already have a plan, go to **Websites**, then **+ Create website**, then **WordPress** in hPanel. These are the current menu names in Hostinger's [WordPress installation tutorial](https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/how-to-install-wordpress), updated October 2, 2026.
### Step 3: Claim your domain and choose a server region (3 minutes)
1. Type your blog name in the **Secure your domain** field and pick an available domain.
2. **Confirm the server region.** Hostinger picks one based on your location, but you should choose the region closest to your readers. Hostinger's web hosting data centres are in:
- Europe: France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands and the UK;
- Asia: India, Indonesia and Malaysia;
- the USA: Phoenix, Boston and Asheville;
- South America: Brazil.
The full list is on [Hostinger's server locations page](https://www.hostinger.com/support/1583267-where-are-your-servers-located). An Indian audience should mean an India server; a UK audience, a UK server.
3. Click **Next**.
### Step 4: Set your WordPress login (2 minutes)
Enter:
- your admin language;
- your admin email;
- a strong administrator password.
Use a unique password generated by your [password manager](/blog/how-to-protect-yourself-after-a-data-breach-a-step-by-step-privacy-playbook). Your WordPress admin is the most attacked part of any blog.
### Step 5: Choose AI setup or a blank site (1 minute)
You get two paths:
- **Create website with AI.** Describe your blog, confirm the pages and brand name, and Hostinger generates a starter site. It uses Elementor by default; switch the **Editor** dropdown to **Gutenberg** before you confirm if you want WordPress's own block editor.
- **Build from scratch.** You get a clean WordPress dashboard and choose everything yourself.
**Our recommendation for bloggers:** choose Gutenberg, either through the AI path with Gutenberg selected or from scratch. Elementor is a powerful page builder, but a blog mostly needs fast, simple post pages, and the block editor is built into WordPress.
### Step 6: Wait for the install (2 minutes)
The **Installing WordPress** screen takes about two minutes. You then land on Hostinger's onboarding checklist inside WordPress. To return later, open **Websites** in hPanel and click **WP Admin**.
### Step 7: Let SSL finish (runs in the background)
Hostinger activates SSL automatically once the domain connects, usually within a few hours, and **Force HTTPS** is on by default. If you see "Your connection is not private" right after setup, wait. This is normal while the certificate is issued.
### Step 8: Pick a theme (5 minutes)
Go to **Appearance**, then **Themes**. For a blog, choose a lightweight theme with good typography. Install one theme, not five. Every unused theme or plugin is one more thing to update.
### Step 9: Set the basics every blog needs (5 minutes)
In the WordPress dashboard:
1. **Settings, then General:** set your site title, tagline and time zone.
2. **Settings, then Permalinks:** choose **Post name**, so URLs read `/my-first-post/` rather than `/?p=123`.
3. **Settings, then Reading:** decide whether your homepage shows latest posts or a static page.
4. **Delete the sample post, sample page and default comment.**
5. **Create your key pages:** About, Contact and a Privacy Policy (WordPress includes a privacy page draft).
### Step 10: Publish your first post (5 minutes)
Go to **Posts**, then **Add New**. Write a short, useful first post, add a featured image, choose a category and click **Publish**. Done.
## Optional but smart: three things to do in week one
- **Caching.** Hostinger says its WordPress hosting includes LiteSpeed acceleration, so you do not need a separate caching plugin to get started. Do not stack several caching plugins on top; they conflict.
- **Backups.** Premium has weekly backups. Unlimited and Cloud Startup have daily ones. For any plan, also keep your own off-site copy of important content.
- **Two-factor login.** Add 2FA to your Hostinger account and your WordPress admin. Our [data breach privacy checklist](/blog/2026-data-breaches-a-practical-privacy-checklist-for-tech-users) covers why this matters.
## Does Hostinger meet WordPress's requirements?
[WordPress.org recommends](https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/) PHP 8.3 or greater, MySQL 8.0 or greater (or MariaDB 10.11 or greater), and HTTPS support. Hostinger's managed WordPress plans include free SSL and automatic HTTPS. If hPanel lets you change the PHP version for your site, pick the newest stable version your theme and plugins support.
New to the dashboard? WordPress.org's own [First Steps With WordPress guide](https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/first-steps-with-wordpress/) walks through every menu, and its [installation handbook](https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/before-install/howto-install/) covers the manual route if you ever move hosts.
## Common mistakes to avoid
| Mistake | Why it hurts | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Picking a server far from readers | Slower load times | Choose the region nearest your audience in Step 3 |
| Buying the shortest term without checking | Much higher monthly price | Compare term lengths before paying |
| Installing 20 plugins on day one | Slower site, more security risk | Add plugins only when you need a feature |
| Reusing a password | Easy account takeover | Use a password manager and 2FA |
| Forgetting auto-renew | Surprise bill at the full renewal rate | Note the renewal date or adjust auto-renew in hPanel Billing |
## Using AI to write your posts? Read this first
Hostinger's AI tools and general chatbots can help you outline posts and fix grammar. But search engines and readers both reward real experience. Our guide on [how to avoid AI slop in your content](/blog/ai-slop-and-how-to-avoid-it-a-guide-to-quality-content-creation) and our roundup of the [best AI writing tools for creators](/blog/best-ai-writing-tools-2026-content-creators) show how to use AI without producing generic posts.
## Who this setup suits
**A good fit for:**
- new bloggers, students and creators who want a self-hosted WordPress blog cheaply;
- small businesses adding a blog to their site;
- anyone in India, the UK, the EU or the US who wants a local data centre.
**Skip it if:**
- **You want zero maintenance.** A hosted platform may suit you better than self-hosted WordPress, which needs updates.
- **You want a drag-and-drop site with no WordPress at all.** Look at our [Hostinger AI website builder guide](/blog/hostinger-ai-website-builder-guide) instead.
