**Short verdict:** Hostinger is one of the cheapest ways to get a fast, reliable website online in 2026, and independent tests back up its speed. The catch is the price: the headline rate needs a four-year prepayment, and renewal costs roughly three to four times more. If you go in knowing the real long-term cost, it is still good value for blogs, portfolios and small business sites.
Below is what you actually pay, what independent testers measured, and who should look elsewhere. All prices are at the time of writing (October 2026). Hostinger changes its prices often, and the monthly figure always depends on the term length you choose.
## What Hostinger sells in 2026
Hostinger has grown well beyond cheap shared hosting. The current line-up includes:
- **Web hosting** (shared, on LiteSpeed servers): Single (in some markets), Premium, Unlimited and Cloud Startup.
- **WordPress hosting**, which uses the same three plan names and prices in the US.
- **An AI website builder**, bundled into the same plans. We cover it in our [Hostinger AI website builder guide](/blog/hostinger-ai-website-builder-guide).
- **KVM VPS plans** with one-click templates for n8n, Docker, Ollama and more. See our [Hostinger VPS for AI projects guide](/blog/hostinger-vps-for-ai-projects).
This review focuses on the web hosting plans, because that is where most people start.
## Hostinger web hosting plans and prices
Here is what [Hostinger's web hosting page](https://www.hostinger.com/web-hosting) lists for US buyers, with Indian rupee prices from [the India storefront](https://www.hostinger.com/in/web-hosting). Every intro price below is for a 48-month term, paid upfront.
| Plan | Intro price (US) | Renews at (US) | Intro price (India) | Renews at (India) | Websites | Storage | Backups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single | Not listed in US | Not listed | ₹69/mo | ₹289/mo | 1 | 10 GB SSD | Weekly |
| Premium | $2.99/mo | $10.99/mo | ₹149/mo | ₹449/mo | 3 | 20 GB SSD | Weekly |
| Unlimited | $3.99/mo | $16.99/mo | ₹249/mo | ₹649/mo | Unlimited | 50 GB NVMe | Daily |
| Cloud Startup | $7.99/mo | $25.99/mo | ₹599/mo | ₹1,599/mo | Unlimited | 100 GB NVMe | Daily and on demand |
UK buyers see £2.99 for Premium, renewing at £10.99, on [the UK page](https://www.hostinger.com/uk/web-hosting), again on a 48-month term.
What every paid plan above Single includes, according to Hostinger:
- **A free domain for the first year.** After that you pay normal domain renewal fees.
- **Email.** Premium gets 2 mailboxes per website, free for one year; Unlimited and Cloud Startup get unlimited mailboxes per website, also free for one year.
- **Free SSL, a CDN and malware scanning**, plus LiteSpeed servers.
### The real price after renewal
This is the part most reviews skip. On the US Premium plan, you pay $143.52 upfront for 48 months. When that term ends, the plan renews at $10.99 a month, which works out to about $132 a year. On Unlimited, the renewal rate of $16.99 a month is more than four times the intro rate.
Three things to know before you buy:
1. **The headline price needs the longest term.** Shorter terms cost more per month. Hostinger's page says all plans are paid upfront, and the monthly figure is simply the total divided by the months.
2. **Renewal is automatic.** [Website Builder Expert's April 2026 pricing breakdown](https://www.websitebuilderexpert.com/hosting-websites/hostinger-pricing/) notes that plans auto-renew for another full term unless you switch it off under Billing in hPanel. It also says a .com domain costs extra after the free first year, and that VAT may be added at checkout.
3. **Free email and the free domain expire after year one**, even on a four-year plan.
**Our advice:** treat the intro price as a discount on your first term, not as the price of the product. If you would not pay the renewal price, budget to move hosts (or negotiate) before your term ends. ## Speed: what independent tests show
We have not run our own benchmarks, so here is what third-party testers published in 2026.
[WPBeginner's Hostinger review](https://www.wpbeginner.com/hosting/hostinger/) (dated August 10, 2026) tested a WordPress site with no caching plugin in July 2026:
| Test (WPBeginner, July 2026) | Hostinger result |
|---|---|
| Largest Contentful Paint (GTmetrix) | 659 ms |
| Full page load | 1.1 seconds |
| Average server response, 6 global regions | 227 ms |
| Load test, 50 virtual users (k6, P95) | 21 ms, no failed requests |
| Uptime over 30 days (UptimeRobot) | 100% |
The same publication's [SiteGround review](https://www.wpbeginner.com/hosting/siteground/) measured a 369 ms average server response, and its [Bluehost review](https://www.wpbeginner.com/hosting/bluehost/) measured 599 ms. On that one metric, Hostinger came out ahead of both. Our full [Hostinger vs Bluehost vs SiteGround comparison](/blog/hostinger-vs-bluehost-vs-siteground) goes deeper.
Keep in mind that a single test site is a snapshot, not a guarantee for your site.
## Uptime: the longer view
A 30-day window can hide bad months. Blogger Kripesh Adwani has monitored his Hostinger sites with Better Uptime since 2021, and his [review, updated October 6, 2026](https://kripeshadwani.com/hostinger-review/), shows monthly figures from October 2025 to September 2026 for sites in Singapore, the US and India.
- Most months show 100% or above 99.9%.
- There are weak months. His US Business-plan site logged 98.54% in September 2026, and three sites dropped to between 99.42% and 99.69% in November 2025.
- His reported 12-month averages sit between 99.95% and 99.97% for the four sites.
**Our reading:** uptime is good for the price, but not flawless. If downtime would cost you real money, add your own free uptime monitor and keep off-site backups.
## Data-centre locations
Hostinger's [server locations support article](https://www.hostinger.com/support/1583267-where-are-your-servers-located) (last modified September 2026) lists the following for web and cloud plans:
- **Europe:** France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands and the UK.
- **Asia:** India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
- **North America:** Phoenix, Boston and Asheville in the USA.
- **South America:** Brazil.
That India location matters for Indian readers: hosting close to your visitors cuts response times. Pick the region nearest your audience during setup.
## Support, upsells and the money-back guarantee
**Support.** Hostinger offers 24/7 live chat. Its [Trustpilot page](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/hostinger.com) shows a TrustScore of 4.6 from over 73,000 reviews, with 87% five-star and 7% one-star. The recurring complaints include:
- support that leans on AI bots for complex problems;
- difficult migrations and strict account verification;
- extra charges for add-ons such as more email.
On [Hostinger's AI website builder pricing page](https://www.hostinger.com/ai-website-builder), the Premium plan lists chatbot support while Unlimited lists priority 24/7 expert support. That is worth weighing if you expect to need a human often.
**Upsells.** Expect offers for extras at checkout and inside hPanel. Website Builder Expert's breakdown lists domain renewals, Hostinger Horizons (the AI app builder) and Hostinger Reach (email marketing) among them, and Trustpilot reviewers mention paid email add-ons. Read the cart carefully and remove what you do not need.
**Refunds.** Hostinger offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, but [the refund policy](https://www.hostinger.com/legal/refund-policy) has exceptions:
- domain renewals, domain privacy and AI Builder credits are not refundable;
- a free domain is not refundable, so Hostinger may deduct its value from your refund;
- renewals count as new transactions.
## Limits of shared hosting
Shared hosting means your site shares a server's resources with other customers. It is fine for blogs, brochure sites and small shops. It is the wrong choice for:
- **Heavy WooCommerce stores** with many logged-in users at once. Look at Cloud Startup or a VPS.
- **Custom apps**, Node.js back ends, background workers or AI models. These need a VPS (or, for testing models, your own laptop: see our [Ollama vs LM Studio guide](/blog/ollama-vs-lm-studio-local-llms-laptop)).
- **Sites with sudden viral traffic spikes**, where you will hit resource limits.
If you are an AI builder who wants to self-host tools like n8n, skip shared hosting and read our [VPS guide for AI projects](/blog/hostinger-vps-for-ai-projects).
## Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very low first-term price | Renewal is 3 to 4 times the intro price |
| Strong speed results in independent 2026 tests | Cheapest rate needs a 48-month prepayment |
| Data centres in India, Europe, the US and Brazil | Free domain and email last only one year |
| Free SSL, CDN and malware scanning | Support leans on AI chat; human help is uneven |
| Easy hPanel and one-click WordPress | Checkout and dashboard upsells |
## Who Hostinger suits, and who should skip it
**Good fit:**
- First-time bloggers and creators who want WordPress running cheaply. Our [step-by-step WordPress on Hostinger tutorial](/blog/start-wordpress-blog-hostinger) takes about 30 minutes.
- Small businesses in India, the UK, the EU or the US that need a fast brochure site and email.
- Freelancers hosting a handful of client sites on Unlimited, which [Hostinger currently lists with unlimited websites and daily backups](https://www.hostg.xyz/aff_c?offer_id=815&aff_id=244529).
**Skip it if:**
- You will not commit to a long term and hate renewal surprises. A host with flatter pricing may cost less over five years.
- You need guaranteed fast human support for complex technical problems.
- You run a large store or a custom app. Go straight to a VPS or managed cloud.
Whatever host you pick, protect the accounts behind your site. Our [2026 data breach privacy checklist](/blog/2026-data-breaches-a-practical-privacy-checklist-for-tech-users) and our guide to the [best free and open-source password managers](/blog/stop-paying-for-password-managers-the-best-free-and-open-source-picks-for-2026) are good next reads.
## Final verdict
Hostinger delivers more speed per dollar (or rupee) than almost anything else in its price band, and the 2026 independent data supports that. Just plan around the renewal price, switch off auto-renew if you might move, and decline the extras you do not need.
**Ready to try it?** [Get Hostinger's current Premium or Unlimited deal here](https://www.hostg.xyz/aff_c?offer_id=815&aff_id=244529), and use the 30-day refund window to make sure it fits.
